A lost store rebuilt as an app, and run from Slack.

Knot His makes UV 50+ apparel for women, by women, in Destin, Florida. Its old store was gone. We rebuilt it from the recovered catalog as an installable app, then gave the owner a way to run it from Slack.

The store runs from the chat

Overview

The mission, and our role.

The mission

Bring back a store that had disappeared, make it feel like an app on a shopper's phone, and let a small team see stock, sales, and questions without logging into another dashboard.

Our role

The whole thing: catalog recovery, the storefront and its app shell, Square hosted checkout, a Postgres inventory, the Slack app, and the shopping helper that hands off to a person.

The challenge

What kept going wrong.

A store that vanished

The old storefront was gone. All that was left was a recovered catalog, archived pages, and stock counts in another system.

Too small for another dashboard

A small team can't sit in an admin panel all day. Stock, sales, and questions have to come to them.

Questions at all hours

Sizing, stock, and shipping questions arrive when nobody's at the counter, and an unanswered one is a lost sale.

The solution

What we built.

A store that installs like an app

  • Rebuilt from the recovered catalog17 products and 120 variants, with nothing invented
  • An app tab bar on every screenHome, Shirts, Bag, Hats, Dresses, the same on the web and the home screen
  • Offline-tolerantvisited pages still open on a beach with no signal

Run it from Slack

  • Slash commands for the team/stock, /lowstock, /restock, /sold, and /history, right in Slack
  • Sale and low-stock alertsevery paid order and every variant running low posts on its own
  • A helper that knows when to stopthe shopping helper answers sizing and stock, then hands off to a person in Slack

Process

How it got shipped.

  1. Recover the catalog

products, variants, copy, and photos from what survived

  2. Build the front door

an installable store with a tab bar and offline pages

  3. Wire the back office

Square checkout, inventory, and stock alerts

  4. Hand over the chat

Slack commands, alerts, and the helper's hand-off to a person

The result

What it does every day.
